6 factors that move a PPF quote
1. Vehicle size
S/M/L/XL are indexed on painted surface area. A compact sport (MX-5, MINI) is ~6-8m²; a full-size SUV / MPV (Cayenne, Alphard) is 12-16m² — up to 2× the film.
2. Coverage scope
Full car, front-half (bumper + hood + fenders + mirrors) or high-wear (bumper + hood edge). Front-half is 55-65% of full; high-wear is 30-40%.
3. Finish
Gloss TPU is the baseline; matte / satin adds ~15% (scarcer raw stock). Colour PPF (colour change + protection) has its own tier — see /en/colourppf.
4. Install complexity
Aero kits, carbon parts, wide-body cars, XL SUV tailgates and oversized roofs need more sheets and hours — labour can be +30-50%.
5. Add-ons
Mirrors, door edges, rocker panels, roof are common extras. Single items HK$900-$7,600 depending on size; bundled quotes get better rates.
6. Material & warranty

4 things cheap shops don't include
Disassembly labour
Proper install removes bumpers, door trims, mirror caps. Reputable shops include it; cheap shops charge HK$1,000-$3,000 extra.
Wrap-in edges
Film should tuck into bumper, mirror and door edges. Quotes that say 'no wrap-in' typically show lifting inside 12-18 months.
Paint prep / polishing
Swirl marks or oxidation need light polish (HK$1,500-$4,000) before install; skipping locks defects under the film forever.
Warranty registration
