Tesla Model 3s from Fremont, Shanghai and Berlin all use new-generation waterborne paint — environmentally friendly, but with paint hardness roughly 15–20% lower than traditional solvent paint (Pencil Hardness Test: Tesla ~2H vs traditional ~3H). This means a Model 3 shows micro-scratches from day one — car covers, drying towels and even wax cloths can leave swirl marks.

Hong Kong's concrete-heavy roads and construction dust make the aero-optimised low nose of the Model 3 a chip magnet — front bumper, hood, A-pillars and roof leading edge accumulate high-speed stone-chip damage fast. Field data: an unwrapped Model 3 accumulates 30–50 chip strikes on the front bumper per year, and re-spraying a 3-year-old front bumper runs HK$8,000–12,000 — roughly the same cost as a Front End PPF Package. For long-term owners (3+ years), PPF is a clear win.

Standard / Long Range: start with a Front End Package from HK$8,800 covering front bumper + hood + mirrors, blocking most highway chips. Long-term owners can upgrade to full-car PPF at HK$18,000 – HK$30,000+. The Performance variant adds a Track Mode carbon front lip and rear wing — we provide dedicated PPF templates for both, with matte film available to match Track Mode aesthetic.

Highland (2024 refresh) has redesigned front bumper, hood and headlights — we've synced Tesla's updated Highland templates so nothing is forced onto old geometry. Highland owners can also go straight to CYBRIX Colour PPF — Satin Black, Racing Blue and Punisher Grey are popular options that combine protection with a colour change.

For rideshare / car-share (Zipcar, Getaround) use, full-car PPF is strongly recommended — repeated entry/exit rapidly wears door handles and door edges, and PPF significantly extends the rental-service life of the car.

Return every 12 months for a complimentary inspection — we top up Allround C0.02 PPF-specific coating to reactivate the hydrophobic layer. EV owners can add KOCH-CHEMIE Nano-Glasveriegelung glass coating in the same visit to boost anti-fouling on the panoramic roof.

At 1,849mm the Model 3 fits a 2.5m bay with about 32cm each side, so parking is not the issue — the paint is. Tesla's waterborne finish is roughly 15–20% softer than traditional solvent paint, and the frameless doors plus flush handles mean fingernail marks build up in exactly the same spot every day. On Midnight Silver and Deep Blue Metallic, those swirls show instantly.

The other hot zone is the nose. The Model 3's low, aero-shaped front sends debris straight into the bumper and bonnet edge; we have seen three-year-old unwrapped cars with 30-plus chips on the bumper alone. Front-end PPF starts at HK$9,800, full-body is HK$18,000 – HK$30,000+ — far cheaper than a bumper respray with Autopilot camera recalibration.

The three most requested shades in Hong Kong are GSWF Chroma Guard Satin Black (with black wheels and smoked lights), CYBRIX IRONMIX Racing Blue (the Performance owners' pick) and Punisher Grey, a cement grey that hides dust and stays easy to maintain. Highland (2024 facelift) bumper and headlight patterns are already updated — we never stretch an old pattern to fit.

Full-body colour PPF is HK$25,000 – HK$35,000+ with a 5-year official warranty; roof, mirrors and trim accents start at HK$3,800. If your Model 3 does ride-hailing work, add door edges and sills to the front-end package — passenger use wears those areas two to three times faster than private use.
