The Audi single-frame grille is a signature design feature — and it also puts about 30% more surface area of the front face directly in the path of road debris than a typical car. RS3 / RS6 / e-tron GT / Q8 owners see chip clusters under the front bumper within the first year of ownership. Full-car aliphatic TPU PPF is the only long-term way to protect Audi Exclusive bespoke paint and preserve resale on quattro performance models.

1. High-risk panels most Audi owners overlook

Fig. 1 — Four zones Audi owners underestimate: grille lower edge, Matrix LED headlights, quattro arches, front lip.
  • Single-frame grille lower edge and front splitter

RS models sit only 105–115mm off the ground; the front lip and lower diffuser are the first things to lose paint.

  • Matrix LED / Digital OLED lights

The e-tron GT tail-lights are OLED units — a single rock-strike crack costs HK$18,000+ per side.

  • quattro flared rear fenders

RS 6 Avant / RS Q8 wide arches sit in the debris cone off the rear tyres. PPF must extend 50mm into the wheel-arch lip.

  • e-tron GT front closeout panel

EVs lack the engine cooling grille, so the polymer closeout panel is a single large surface that chips through the clearcoat easily.

2. Nardo Grey, Kemora Grey and Audi Exclusive bespoke paint

Side-by-side Audi Nardo Grey hood: gloss PPF looks too shiny (wrong) vs satin PPF preserves factory semi-matte finish (correct)
Fig. 2 — Nardo Grey (LY7C) is semi-matte: gloss PPF over-brightens it; satin PPF keeps the factory finish.

Nardo Grey (colour code LY7C) is quattro GmbH's first satin-finish grey — technically a semi-matte. Standard gloss PPF over it makes the colour read too bright and loses the original tone. Use a satin / matte finish PPF instead (GSWF Dynomatt, GSWF Stealth) to keep the factory satin finish while gaining self-healing. Kemora Grey Metallic and Audi Exclusive bespoke colours are gloss-based and work well with a gloss aliphatic TPU.

3. Full-car programmes and current HK pricing

Audi full-car PPF packages and Hong Kong pricing: Standard HK$19,800, RS / e-tron HK$23,800, Nardo Grey satin HK$26,800

  • Full-car coverage (GSWF Defender / Hydro)

    A4 / A5 / A6 HK$19,800–HK$22,800; RS / e-tron GT / Q8 HK$23,800–HK$26,800; includes headlight film, heat-rejection film and ceramic coating.

  • Nardo Grey satin programme

Full-car GSWF Dynomatt / GSWF Stealth HK$26,800–HK$32,800, preserves the factory satin finish.

  • GSWF Tier 1 lifetime warranty

Full-car e-warranty tied to VIN, covering yellowing, delamination and bubbling — lifetime for the first owner.

FAQ

Audi PPF FAQ visual: Nardo Grey satin vs gloss, e-tron GT charging safety, RS6 arch coverage area, Audi Exclusive touch-up cost
Fig. 4 — Four questions Audi customers ask most: Nardo Grey finish, e-tron GT charging, RS6 arch coverage, Audi Exclusive touch-up.
  • Can I install gloss PPF over Nardo Grey?

Not recommended. Nardo Grey is semi-matte and gloss PPF makes it read too bright, losing the original tone. Use satin / matte PPF instead (GSWF Dynomatt, GSWF Stealth).

  • Does PPF on the e-tron GT affect charging or cooling?

No. PPF only covers exterior painted panels — it never blocks battery cooling ducts or the charging port. During install, leave a 2mm relief around the charge-port rubber seal so water can't wick under the edge.

  • How much extra material for RS 6 Avant flared arches?

Each flared arch adds about 0.6 m². Full-car PPF quotes include an 8–10% material buffer for this — reputable shops fold it into the standard quote, no surcharge.

  • How do I repair Audi Exclusive bespoke paint after PPF?

Bespoke paint respray runs HK$25,000+ per panel. Full-car aliphatic TPU PPF removes cleanly after 5–10 years with paint intact. For localised damage, just replace that panel of PPF — respray cost drops to zero.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

Quick answers to the questions owners ask most often.

  • Can Nardo Grey be wrapped with gloss PPF?

Not recommended. Nardo Grey is a semi-matte finish, so gloss PPF makes it look overly bright and kills the original character. The correct choice is a satin / matte PPF such as GSWF Dynomatt or GSWF Stealth.

  • Does PPF affect charging or cooling on an e-tron GT?

No. PPF only covers exterior body panels and never seals battery cooling channels or the charge port. During installation we leave a 2mm margin around the charge-port rubber seal so water cannot sit under the edge and cause oxidation.

  • How much film do the RS 6 Avant's widened fenders need?

The widened fenders add roughly 0.6 m² per side, so a full-car PPF job needs 8-10% extra material. Established studios already build this into the full-car quotation, so there is no surcharge.

  • How do you touch up an Audi Exclusive custom colour after PPF?

Repainting an Audi Exclusive custom colour is extremely expensive (HK$25,000+ per panel). With full-car aliphatic TPU PPF the factory paint stays intact when the film is removed after 5-10 years, and localised damage only means replacing that one section of film, so repaint cost drops to zero.
