Lexus Takumi hand-finished paint (especially LC500 Structural Blue and LX600 Sonic Chrome) uses 8–12 hand-polished layers, and a respray runs 30% higher than list price. Full-car aliphatic TPU PPF preserves the optical depth of these pearl paints and shields the Spindle Grille from rock chips at the same time.

  The grille runs from the front lip up to the leading edge of the bonnet — the single largest area on the car exposed to road debris.

2. Structural Blue and Naples Yellow pearl paint protection

Structural Blue (code 8X5) uses microstructural crystals to reflect short-wavelength blue — there's literally no blue pigment. A localised respray effectively cannot match. Naples Yellow (570) and Radiant Red Contrast Layering (3T5) are similarly multi-layer pearls. Full-car aliphatic TPU PPF (GSWF Defender) passes 3000hr QUV with ΔE < 3 and ΔYI < 2 — it does not alter the factory optical refraction and adds self-healing.

FAQ

• ●Will PPF change the look of Structural Blue?

  No. Top-tier aliphatic TPU passes 3000hr QUV with ΔE < 3 and ΔYI < 2 — invisible to the eye. Always request a 100mm × 100mm ΔE test patch before install.

• ●LX600 / GX550 SUVs sit high — do I need thicker PPF?

  Recommended: 8 mil on the front bumper, bonnet and front fenders; 7.5 mil standard on door sills and rear bumper. Balances protection with clean edge finish.

• ●Hybrid models have sound-deadening — does that complicate PPF install?

  No. PPF only covers exterior panels — no trim removal. The high-voltage battery in hybrids is nowhere near the exterior skin, so the electrical system doesn't need to be de-energised.
